Violet Jessop
Jul. 17th, 2012 05:36 pmIf you worked on ships, how many major incidents would it take to make you change jobs?
Violet Jessop was working on the liner Olympic in 1911 when it collided with another ship. The next year she was working on sister ship Titanic when it hit an iceberg and sank. Four years later, during the First World War, she was on Britannic, sister to the other two, when it hit a mine and sank. Despite all this, she carried on working on ships. Apparently she was well known because of all this. I wonder if it put people off boarding the ships she worked on?
