I finally dropped the Oracle JVM in favour of AdoptOpenJDK, and it was painless, and everything still works, and I don't have font size issues with javaw any longer, and I didn't have to agree to Oracle's licence.

OK, I did have to agree to GPL, but I trust that more than Oracle.
