Food-u-like
Jun. 7th, 2010 05:50 pmI like cup-a-soup. I like pot noodle. I quite liked instant mashed potato*. I prefer instant coffee.
Why do I like all this synthetic gunge? When I was growing up it was modern and exciting. We had inflatable chairs at home and a red plastic TV. We were all going to live in space and eat food in pill form. But then the future turned out to be a corporate scam, and now I buy organic veg and fair trade stuff and (somewhat half-heartedly) boycott Nestle**. Hmm. Listen to corporate greed shudder as I stick it to the man.
Anyway, today I had cup-a-soup and dreamed of the lost future. I can, because it's mine.
* I can't say whether I still do because I haven't had it for 30 years, but one brand apparently still sells in vast quantities.
** I don't buy any of their stuff, and make slightly disapproving noises sometimes if my SO buys it.
