I found out today that the nominal mains voltage changed 14 years ago. Why don't people tell me stuff?

Naturally it was a European standardisation thing. Some countries used 220V and some 240V. So the standard set was 230V, but with enough tolerance (±10%) that no one actually had to change anything. Some standardisation.
