I'm not a big fan of the concrete, steel and glass* school of architecture, but sometimes it works for me. Here's one good example that I found today: cube houses in Rotterdam. They're very strange and very pleasing. I think brown and low down works better than yellow and high up. If anyone's planning on building me a surprise house, now you know what I want. I promise to act surprised when you show it to me.

My father's an architect, so perhaps my dislike of architecture has some Oedipal aspect. But the only really dodgy thing he designed was in brick, and mostly he did hospitals, and I don't have any problem with them.

* I do like glass in windows. It keeps out the draughts.
